About ten years ago the v-twin factory custom craze hit people like it did in the seventies, and so consumers wanted factory bikes that looked more like one-off customs. And the fact is, most one-off custom sleds use fat handlebars, either one inch or one and a quarter. SOOO, the corporations stared putting one inch bars on the factory bikes.
The truth is, almost any cruiser above 600cc made in the last ten years or so has one inch bars. Indeed, before that, the seven eighths bars were the norm. Fat bars definitely look better.
